Training
Every new member must complete a Basic Firefighting Skills program at State Fire School in September before the individual is authorized to fight fire unless they are already Firefighter certified. After the training, the individual is placed on a 90-day evaluation program. This is to allow additional training time at the station and for the person to get limited hands-on experience at fires until he/she is ready to be a firefighter.
Equipment
The uniform and firefighting Personal Protective Equipment are provided to the new members by the Mormon Lake Fire District. This equipment remains the property of the Mormon Lake Fire District and must be returned upon leaving.
Time Commitment
After the initial firefighting training, Probationary firefighters attend scheduled training meetings. Probationary firefighters can also assist in Public Relations events and regularly respond to emergencies. This total time commitment can average about 4 hours a week.
